Dear String Camp families,

We are so excited to welcome you to camp on Monday, June 20th! Drop off for camp will begin at 9:45 AM. We will meet at the UNT music building on Ave C at the big sign that says “MUSIC.” To drop off your camper, please pull into the drop off lane (entrance at the corner of Highland and ave C) and form a line. We ask that you do not leave your car so as not to block traffic. If you would like to park, there is a paid lot at Highland and Ave C that using a parking app. Pick up will be at the same location at 3 PM.

Your camper will need:

  • Instrument and accessories such as shoulder rest and rock stops (large instrument storage will be available during the week)
  • Sack lunch or money to buy lunch at the Union
  • Water bottle with a tight-fitting lid
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes to walk in – we will be indoors most of our time and sometimes rooms get chilly; we will be walking to the union for lunch which gets hot
  • Optional - sunscreen

The Friday Concert will be in Voertman Recital Hall (entrance is through the courtyard where the big “MUSIC” sign is). It will begin at 2PM. You may park at the lot at Highland and Ave C. or any metered spot.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

The String Orchestra Day Camp (directed by Dr. Elizabeth Chappell) is offered each summer during the month of June. String orchestra students with at least one year of experience playing violin, viola, cello or double bass are invited to attend a week of orchestra day camp at the University of North Texas. Five different orchestra groups of different levels conducted by stellar directors from the DFW area will develop a concert program to be presented on Friday, June 24th.  Students will have the opportunity to develop and maintain their technique, play fun music, and meet new friends.
