Dr. Crystal L. Gerrard is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of North Texas. A native of Texas, Dr. Gerrard previously held public school band teaching positions in Grand Prairie and Lewisville. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and Southern Methodist University respectively, and earned her Ph.D. in Music Education from The Ohio State University in 2018.
 
Dr. Gerrard's research interests include urban music education, music teacher education, culturally responsive pedagogy, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and social justice in music education. Her dissertation is entitled, "Perceptions of Band Participation in a Predominantly Latino School Community.”
